Knight Optical can offer Circular Sheet Polariser for use within Photographic Applications.
We supply a range of Circular Sheet Polariser for a range of applications. All individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications.
Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers within Photographic Applications. Our Circular Polarisers consist of a quarter wave plate cemented to a linear polariser.
While a linear polariser may be used to reduce glare during photography (such as reflection from the surface of a body of water), autofocus systems struggle to correctly focus on linearly polarised light. With the addition of the quarter wave plate, this has little impact on the intensity of incident light to the sensor, but it makes autofocussing much easier.

Knight Optical offer a range of Stock Sapphire Windows, for use within Infrared Systems.
Knight Optical can offer Sapphire (Al2O3) Optics for Infra-red systems over the waveband of 0.2 to 5µm. We offer Sapphire optics for UV, Visible, NIR (0.9 to 1.5µm) and Mid-Waveband Infra-Red (MWIR, 3 to 5µm) Imaging Systems. Sapphire has hardness of about HK2000, which makes it a better choice for windows and outer elements of lens systems. Sapphire has good transmission in the MWIR band, and can be used with optical glass in the NIR, and with Silicon or Germanium in the MWIR, to form well corrected doublets and lens systems.
These systems include, for example, Forward Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) systems, and thermography. Al2 O3 has a refractive index of about 1.9288no 1.9174ne at 200nm through to 1.623no 1.615ne in the IR (5µm). This pairing will allow for the design and manufacture of a colour corrected lens that can be used in broad spectrum thermal imaging systems.

Sapphire is an incredibly hard crystal (HK1370kg/mm2), second only to diamond. Fluoresence free sapphire windows have high mechanical strength, thermal and chemical resistance and is scratch resistant, making it very desirable for operating in harsh conditions. Sapphire windows can be made thinner than alternative crystals thanks to its structural integrity and can operate up to 2030⁰C. The material transmits between the UV and IR at 0.15-5.5µm, and has a high refractive index of 1.75..
Knight Optical supply a range of quality Sapphire optical components including Fluoresence free sapphire windows, Sapphire lenses, Sapphire prisms, and Sapphire blanks either from stock or bespoke custom made to your specification for a range of applications. Sapphire (Al2O3) is one of the hardest minerals and optical materials available for use in the range from UV up to 5µm, making it ideal as a protective window for camera systems.
Cylindrical lenses are designed to focus light into a straight line, rather than to a single point. As the name suggests, the lens surface has a cylindrical shape rather than the usual spherical formation, which allows for one-dimensional shaping of light along a line. Cylindrical lenses are often used to change the profile of laser beams; for example

We supply a range of diamond turned aspherics for a range of applications. All individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications.
Thermal Imaging Cameras work similarly to traditional visible camera systems; while traditional cameras form images using visible light; thermal cameras form images using infrared radiation; operating in wavelengths as long as 14µm.
Spherical aberration occurs in common singlet lenses, which results in an image that appears distorted, aspheric lenses correct spherical aberration. An aspheric lens surface is designed non-spherical, which allows a single component lens to collimate or focus highly divergent rays,

Within medicine the use of polarized light was first introduced back in the70’s - Within medicine the use of polarised light was first introduced back in the70’s; since then it has come leaps and bounds. How it has been used to help with imaging skin pathologies, when the skin is illuminated by linearly polarised light it causes backscattering of the superficial layers of the skin where cancer often arises. This superficial backscattered light can be distinguished from the diffused reflected light when using a detector.
Polarised Beam-Splitter Cubes, Sheet Linear Polarisers, and Sheet Circular Polarisers are often used within detection devices for this type of skin pathology imaging.
Knight Optical hold a large inventory of Polarisers for use within Skin Cancer Detection devices.

Unwanted hair, be gone!
Knight Optical offer a range of Stock Dichroic Filters, for use within IPL Applications.
Intense Pulsed Light filters are essential to IPL applicators as they are used to filter out the UV wavelength range; and transmit between 400-1200nm for use within cosmetic lasers that are designed to remove unwanted hair, vascular treatment and even acne treatment.
These IPL Filters are often stacked between sapphire windows within the IPL applicator to offer a more defined wavelength spectrum when in use.
Dichroic filters consist of thin film dielectric coatings on glass, and are designed to offer high transmission over a specific wavelength while reflecting all other wavelengths, having negligible absorption. The dielectric coating is perfect for high power applications, and does not show the strong fluorescence of certain glass filters.
We hold a massive inventory of Bandpass, Long pass, Short pass, Band-blocking and Colour-correction filters.
